Being single is tough, especially later in life. But Tracy Proctor has found the world of dating sites, apps and first dates tougher than most – thanks to a ghost that’s been scaring away potential suitors for the past 14 years.
‘Many men have been driven out from my house,’ she says. ‘Exes and new company have seen a black figure in my halls, then packed their bags because they couldn’t hack it.’
But her haunting love life dilemmas don’t stop there.
The 52-year-old mum-of- three, who has been single for more than a decade, believes the spirit that is lurking in her home is a man-hating ghost who won’t let any suitors come near her.
‘He goes to great lengths to keep my partners away from me,’ she says. ‘He’ll move keys, glasses and e-cigarettes around the place just to spook them.’
Full-time carer Tracy has lived in her home in Wakefield, UK, for 19 years, and says some of the ghost’s behaviour is quite strange.
‘He regularly pulls down the knickers of some of my antique dolls,’ she says, visibly shaken. ‘It’s extremely alarming.’
When you add the odd behaviour to her seemingly never-ending loneliness, you can see why Tracy’s at her wits’ end.
‘It really affects the males around me and has stopped all my relationships,’ she says.
