A US dad has jumped off his bridge to his death, holding onto his two children.
John Spincken, 37, leaped from a New Jersey overpass on Monday killing himself and injuring his children, aged one and three years.
A New Jersey State Police spokesman confirmed to PEOPLE the children were taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson where ‘they are being treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.’
New Jersey Police said in a statement on Facebook that they were notified around 8pm of a possible suicide attempt. ‘Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives have determined that the father intentionally jumped with the two children…’
Pequannock Police Capt. Christopher DePuyt told the CBS, ‘The officer spoke with the wife and determined that he had made some threats against the children and they found those threats to be credible right away.’
‘When the story was being relayed to me, I was expecting the worst ending possible,’ DePuyt said. ‘It was a miracle and then it was a prompt and professional response.’
