A Queensland woman is desperate to get her home back after renting her spare room to a woman and ending up living in her car as squatters take over and change the locks.
The homeowner, known only as Alesha, spoke to A Current Affair and told the show that she had leased the room for three weeks to a woman called Tania Anderson and her daughter.
However six weeks had gone by and the pair were still there, and moreover two unknown men had started living at the property.
When Alesha came back from a trip away she claimed her key didn’t work – and alleges that the occupants had changed the locks on her home and Alesha was forced to sleep in her car.
The police were of no help, reports news.com.au, and even the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal admitted they were powerless as the dispute was around individual rooms, not the whole property.
Along with an A Current Affair camera crew, Alesha confronted the so-called tenants which included Ms Anderson’s partner, Dallas, who screamed at the elderly homeowner while a second man pushed the woman and the cameras out the door.
After the story aired, the occupants left the apartment – but not without incident.
Tania Anderson now claims that the landlady’s story is a lie – that she was never living in her car, and that she had leased the whole house to the family.
She responded to the A Current Affair story with a series of angry posts.
She revealed what she says was the landlady’s ‘real’ address, and claimed that the apartment had been being used as a brothel, and that she will be suing Channel 9.
