In the epic shut down to end all epic shut downs, Holly Marie Combs has confirmed that there will be no Charmed reboot.
Excuse us while we quietly sob in the corner.
The former Charmed star, 43, took to Instagram to clear up the rumours/dash our hopes just a few short hours ago with the below:
“I’m sorry to say that all the reboot rumors are just that…. rumors. But here’s #tbt to our wood nymph days. In our defense it was really hot so we wanted to wear the least amount of clothes possible. Really hot. That’s my story and still sticking to it. Still.#charmed“
When still a possibility, the reboot was supposed to air on The CW network and feature a new cast of witches. Set in New England in 1976, it would have been a welcome addition to anyone still quietly chanting, “The power of three will set us free” and drawing triquetras on their notebooks.
February of this year saw a shift in dates with sources saying the drafts for the show hadn’t come in as planned.
Rumors sparked up again more recently when several outlets reported on July 13 that Shannon Doherty and Alyssa Milano were in talks to return and that they hoped the new season would be picked up by Netflix.
With HMC’s latest however, hope, at least for now, seems lost.
