Family’s heartbreak as toddler drowns in Outback water tank

It was just like any other evening for this Longreach family, but then tragedy struck.

The outback Queensland town of Longreach has been shaken by the sudden and tragic death of Willow Walker, 2, who fell into a water tank at Camden Park Station and drowned.

Willow’s parents Daniel and Brooke discovered their girl and called paramedics who arrived just after 6pm on Monday night. She was rushed to the nearest hospital, but did not recover, reports the Courier-Mail.

Daniel is known locally as ‘Outback Dan’, a fifth generation farmer, established the Outback Yacht Club which gives tours promising a taste of the real Australia.

Friends and family have shared their heartbreak online.

Kat Scott wrote: ‘I was only looking at those beautiful photos of her at the bakery eating a cupcake and thought what a gorgeous little girl Willow is.

‘My heart and thoughts are with you all right now.’

Shara Helmstedt added: ‘Miss Willow will be missed by all who were ever lucky to be blessed by her cheeky smile.

‘My heart is shattered, I can’t imagine the millions of pieces yours must be in.’

The family have yet to comment on the tragedy.
