A hotel landlady has told of how she witnessed a “cannibal” killer butcher a young shop worker, his face dripping with blood as he chewed on her face.
Mandy Miles revealed to an inquest that drug-crazed Matthew Williams was “demonic, possessed and eyes black” and “didn’t have a clue what he was doing.”
The 50-year-old said she and her son Christian unlocked the door after hearing screams from William’s room and found him stabbing Cerys Yemm, 22, with a screwdriver and biting her as she lay on the floor in the darkness.
“Christian said to him, ‘That’s a girl down there.’ Matthew said, ‘That’s no girl’. He put his head straight back down on her.
“There was blood dripping from his mouth,” she continued.
“He wasn’t himself. He couldn’t have been otherwise he wouldn’t have done it.”
Williams later died after being tasered by police.
In a 999 call that was played to the inquest jury, Miles could be heard telling the operator: “He’s shoving a screwdriver in her face. He’s actually chewing her face.”
“He’s been locked in room seven. I don’t know who he’s hurting.
“There’s a lad in the room. He’s actually eating her. It’s awful.
“There was screaming and screaming. Oh my God. It’s awful.”
The killer’s mother Sally Ann Williams told the court that her 34-year-old son – who had been diagnosed with drug-induced schizophrenia – had been released from jail with no medication or supervision just two weeks before the attack.
She also revealed that he had complained of voices in his head in the days leading up to his death in November 2014.
“He told me his head wasn’t right,” she said.
The inquest into the incident carried out at the Sirhowy Arms Hotel at Argoed, South Wales, continues.
