Dreamworld CEO donates bonus to victims

She made the announcement in a statement to the press

Following the tragic Dreamworld accident that claimed four lives, Chief executive of Dreamworld operators Ardent Leisure Deborah Thomas says she will donate her entire bonus to the Australian Red Cross.

The donation will go towards helping those directly affected by the incident.

 

‘I have been deeply affected and saddened by the tragic deaths of Kate Goodchild, Luke Dorsett, Roozbeh Araghi, and Cindy Low at Dreamworld on Tuesday, in particular the impact of this incident on their children and families,’ Thomas said in a statement.

‘I will be making a personal donation of $167,500, which comprises my entire cash bonus, to the Australian Red Cross via the Dreamworld memorial day event.

‘Red Cross will ensure 100 per cent is directed to support people affected by this tragic event.’

Four people tragically lost their lives on Tuesday while riding the Thunder River Rapids ride.

According to 7News a failed water pump caused the ride to malfunction, causing the water levels to lower and a the raft in front to become stuck.

The raft containing the passengers then collided with the stationary raft and flipped.
