An outrageous cover story in America’s Globe magazine claims the country superstar, 71, and her spouse Carl Dean, 75, are living separate lives in their hometown of Brentwood, Tennessee.

The publication quotes a photographer named Denis Carney as saying: “Most husbands would be by their wife’s side, supporting them at gigs and making sure they are a big part of their life – but not Carl.”

It’s even claimed the reclusive old timer goes as far as to cover his head with a paper bag, “because he doesn’t want to be known as Mr. Parton”.

Globe then suggests the pair’s marriage has never been the same since the couple cheated on each other in the early days of their romance.

The magazine has published a interview with her relative, named Aunt Dale, who claimed Dolly once “went ballistic” after learning Carl had an affair with a bank clerk named Jolene.

That supposed mistress would go on to become the inspiration for her most famous song, according to the supermarket tabloid.

“She marked right into the bank and confronted the girl, who reached over the counter and tore Dolly’s wig right in front of everyone,” Dale told Globe in the sit-down.

She added, “Dolly goes around telling people how she and Carl have an open marriage. She says she’s not jealous and neither is he – but it’s just not true.”

Dolly and her husband have yet to address Globe’s report.
