Delta Goodrem has revealed plans to become a mum – with or without a man in her life.
The hugely-adored singer made the shock revelation to friends recently, sharing that 2018 is the year she hopes to make her long-awaited baby dream come true. And while Delta has struggled to find lasting romance over the years, she says she’s not going to let that stop her from starting her own family.
‘Delta is sick of waiting for love to come and tap her on the shoulder,’ says a source close to the The Voice star. ‘She’s had beautiful love stories with men over the years and it’s no-one’s fault that those relationships didn’t blossom into marriage or something more.’
‘But Delta has decided that the time is right to have a baby and she’s tired of waiting around. She’s a strong, independent, successful woman who doesn’t need a man to make her dreams come true. Delta said that if she fell pregnant tomorrow, she’d be more than happy to raise this baby alone.’
Delta’s clucky side is always on show in her many social media posts about her gorgeous little nephew Nate, describing his birth as ‘one of the best days of my life.’
Over the years, Delta’s made no secret of her desire to become a mum, speaking openly about her dream of having a baby. And while the singer has been candid about her concerns over whether her treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2003 will affect her ability to naturally conceive, she’s still very hopeful.
‘I love kids and I’m definitely excited for that chapter in my life, I really am!’ she once revealed. ‘I don’t know if I’ll be able to because of the treatment [I had] can make you infertile. At 18, I felt I was too young to even think about having my eggs frozen.’
Her determination to have a baby comes after her close friend Hugh Sheridan recently denied romance rumours between himself and The Voice star, but joked they had discussed marriage and having kids.
