A couple celebrating a birthday were horrified when they discovered their waiter had left a crass message on their bar receipt.
Jo Shepard, 41, had taken her partner, Belinda Mulcah, 46, out for a few drink to celebrate her birthday at the Hafan y Mor holiday park in North Wales.
When they received their receipt, however, Jo was stunned.
Underneath their table number, the waiter had typed one word: ‘Lesbians’.
‘Belinda looked at me and she said, ‘Are you alright?’ I showed her and she was speechless.
‘We hadn’t done anything overt. We hadn’t been kissing or holding hands. We could have been friends.
‘So the fact he decided to identify us as lesbians was a bit horrifying. We were shocked.’
After first attempting to snatch the receipt back from them, the couple say the bar manager apologised and offered them free drinks.
A spokesperson for the park also expressed an apology and assured the pair that: ‘the individual concerned has been subject to internal disciplinary action.’
