Chris Dawson has attended a Sydney court today over the alleged murder of his first wife Lynette.

The 70-year-old former rugby league player was sporting a suit and tie as he arrived at the Downing Centre Court with his lawyer, Greg Walsh, following his extradition from the Gold Coast to NSW.

“Mr Dawson is currently in a witness room within the court precinct … I ask that the matter be stood down for 30 minutes … we need to discuss the matter,” Mr Walsh said.

Lynette Dawson vanished in 1982 from the family’s northern beaches home and her body has never been found.

His family previously claimed Lynette ran away in 1982.

Her disappearance was the subject of a popular podcast, The Teacher’s Pet. It is believed the new witnesses uncovered in the series will provide new corroborative evidence.
