Shocking CCTV footage has emerged showing the moment an man put a bag containing two severed human arms through a scanner at airport security before picking it up and strolling away.
Security officers at China’s Duyun airport stopped the 50-year-old and investigated him – revealing an incredible reason he was carrying the arms, reports The Shanghaiist.
Rather than being a butchering murderer, the man explained that the arms belonged to his brother who had lost the arms in a tragic accident.
Chinese custom says that a person needs to be buried with all their body parts, and so the loyal brother was taking his sibling’s arms home for safe-keeping so that when the time came they could be buried with him.
After calling the hospital where the amputee was being treated, officers were able to confirm the man’s story but told him that before he went any further he would need a permit to travel with human remains.
