Drug bust Cassie’s family slam Schapelle Corby

The sister of alleged drug smuggler Cassie Sainsbury has lashed out at comparisons of the 22-year-old to that of recently released Schapelle Corby.

Despite the obvious similarities between the two women, Khala Sainsbury is insisting the Corby’s and the Sainsbury’s are nothing alike.

‘We are not the Corbys 2.0,’ Khala told The Advertiser.

She also vehemently denies claims Cassie knew she was smuggling drugs into Australia and insists her sister was threatened at gunpoint to carry 5.8kg of cocaine through the airport and was going to be killed in Hong Kong.

‘She was told “I’ve got photos of your family, if you don’t do what I want you to do, they are dead”’, Khala told the paper, before stating that Cassie had begged the Australian consulate to help free her from the grasp of a Colombian crime syndicate.

However, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade claims Cassie never came to them crying for help, according to the publication.

‘Cassie wasn’t coming home alive — that’s what we believe, that’s what our lawyers believe, Khala concluded.
