Controversial drug bust Aussie Schapelle Corby has spoken publicly for the first time since her return, during a shock radio interview with Kyle and Jackie O.
During a paid chat with the convicted drug smuggler’s sister Mercedes, the radio duo demanded ‘proof of life’ regarding her famous sister, who was then put on the phone.
‘Kyle and Jackie O? Hello,’ Schapelle was heard to say in a notably soft voice, before apparently handing the phone back.
Mercedes detailed aspects of her sister’s life since returning, telling the KIIS FM hosts how she’s been doing.
‘Yes, I’m very happy,’ she said of having her sister back home in Australia. ‘We had a little moment in the car, but it’s yet to fully hit.
‘We’re just letting her relax, she can figure it out as time goes by. Time to relax, find herself.’
While there has been much speculation about what Schapelle plans to do next – she was a beauty student before her arrest in Bali – Merdedes has ruled out chat that her sister will be starring in the next season of The Bachelorette, saying ‘No, that’s not going to happen.’
Schappele has already drawn attention for her efforts to highlight missing children on her wildly popular Instagram feed – something Mercedes says she is proud of.
‘That was Schapelle’s idea,’ she said. ‘Why not use this for something that she thinks should have more coverage.
‘Missing children is something that she’s compassionate about. She really liked the Daniel’s Law, that’s something that she’s always following.
‘I’m really proud of her.’
