A woman has been struck multiple times with an axe during a terrifying attack at a Melbourne shopping centre.
Police have arrested a man following the violent confrontation, which happened just after 10am inside a nail salon at Westfield Fountain Gate.
The woman, who is believed to be in her 30’s, has since been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to Victoria Police Spokeswoman, Belinda Batty, the exact cause of the incident is being investigated.
“It is believed that the parties are known to each other,” she said in a statement.
