A three-year-old child has fallen from a rollercoaster at a US amusement park.
Emergency services were sent to Idlewild and SoakZone amusement park in Pennsylvania on Thursday.
Still conscious, the child was taken to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, reports CNN.
A hospital spokeswoman refused to comment, saying the parents have asked for privacy.
Idlewild and SoakZone spokesman Jeff Croushore said the accident happened on the Rollo Coaster, an old-style wooden ride, about midway to the finish, WTAE reported.
‘Our rides are inspected daily… safety is always our number one priority,’ Croushore told the TV station.
He added: ‘Our thoughts and prayers are with the boy and his family.
‘A full investigation has begun to determine the cause of the incident. The Rollo Coaster will be closed, pending the results of the investigation.’
News of the incident comes after a ten-year-old boy was decapitated while riding ‘the tallest slide in the world’.
Caleb Schwab died while riding the 168-foot-high Verrückt slide at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Kansas City. Witnesses said the boy became airborne, flying out of his raft and harness and hit the netting.
