Just months after he completed a stint in rehab for alcoholism, it appears as though Ben Affleck may have relapsed.
According to RadarOnline, the Hollywood actor and his new girlfriend Lindsay Shookus were spotted purchasing several bottles of booze at a liquor store whilst on a romantic beach getaway in Maine over the weekend.
The Gone Girl star allegedly stopped to chat with an employee at the store during the outing and even posed for pictures in front of several shelves full of alcohol.
“He said he and his girlfriend were just up for a couple of days,” the clerk told the publication.
The 44-year-old first came clean about his history with substance abuse back in March, telling his Facebook followers that he intended to “be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help.”
“I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront,” the father-of-three wrote.
“I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step.”
He also credited his ex-wife Jennifer Garner for helping him on his long road to sobriety.
“I’m lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do,” he said.
“This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery.”
