A first look at part of the tell-all interview between Barnaby Joyce and lover Vikki Campion from Channel Seven’s Sunday Night has been unveiled.
It’s one of the biggest scandals in modern politics, and the interview will be the first time the Australian public hear from Vikki, the woman at the centre of the scandal.
In the preview, released by Sunday Night today, Vikki claimed: ‘You can’t help it. You can’t help, you can’t help who you fall in love with,’ while Barnaby added, ‘I failed, I failed, I failed.’
Mr Joyce was axed from his cabinet position and the Nationals leadership after as a result of his relationship with Ms Campion came public and news broke that the two were expecting a child.
Following this scandal, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull created a ban on ministers partaking in sexual relations with their staff.
Joyce has stayed on as the member for New England on the back bench.
While Mr Joyce has resigned, he made a public statement, pleading with media outlets to stop targeting his family, as an attempt to save his unborn son.
Mr Joyce also pleaded with media outlets to stop targeting his estranged wife Natalie, and their four daughters.
‘This has got to stop. It’s not fair on them,’ he said earlier this year.
‘I won’t snipe. I have a lot of things I need to do.
‘I want to assist my colleagues where I can to keep their seats and also, quite naturally, in April, a baby will be born.
‘I’ll have other things on my mind.’
The explosive interview will air on June 3rd at 8:30pm on Channel Seven.
