Spectators were left underwhelmed as Tomic appeared to offer little resistance, with the 26-year-old losing in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, 6-4.
Tomic, who is known for his silver tongue after lashing out at one-time mentor Lleyton Hewitt during the Australian Open, gave press attitude after the game, rolling his eye when a reporter asked the former world no 17 if he felt he put in his best effort.
“Next question please,” was his icy response during the press conference.
“I played well last week. This week, tough first round,” Tomic said.
“I knew if I didn’t feel good, I’d lose this match quickly. We played so fast.
“It’s not like we’re going to have a lot of rallies out there.”
Aussies Ashleigh Barty and Nick Kyrgios have both made it the second round of Wimbledon.
Ash Barty recently won her first major Grand Slam, beating out Markéta Vondroušová during the final of the French Open on June 9.
