A girl has suffered serious head injuries after she fell from the mattress on top of a moving car in the Northern Territory.
The 13-year-old girl was lying on top of the mattress, trying to stop it from blowing away.
A police spokesman said: ‘What they’ve done was the mattress kept blowing off and they thought it would be a good idea to chuck the girl up there to keep the mattress from blowing down.’
They added: ‘The mattress blew off again with her.’
‘What this is, is a lack of judgment.’
The girl’s mother and a 19-year-old friend were in the car at the time. The teen remains in hospital.
