Rapper Mac Miller has died at 26 of an apparent drug overdose.
“Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26,” his family said in a statement to Rolling Stone. “He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.”
Website TMZ claims Miller – who recently went through a bitter break up with singer Ariana Grande – died of an apparent overdose.
A spokesperson for the LAPD tells ET, “There was a radio call related to a death investigation into an adult male” at Miller’s San Fernando Valley home on Friday.
ET reports Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.
