According to the Parochial Registers and Records Measure (1978), the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not be able to conceal the names of Archie’s godparents.

The English rule means that the details of anyone’s baptism can be viewed for a $50 fee, whether or not this excludes a royal baby isn’t specified.

“The Church of England rules that details of all baptisms, including the godparents, are a matter of public record, and can be accessed by anyone who is prepared to pay a fee,” wrote Hello.

This also means that other information, including the occupations of the parents and the officiating minister, will also be released.

This comes after Buckingham Palace announced baby Archie’s christening would be a private ceremony

“Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will be christened in a small private ceremony by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday 6th July.”

The royal family have attempted to protect baby Archie’s privacy for his first two months, only sharing pictures on special occasions and concealing the royal baby’s face.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made it clear they want the identity of Archie’s godparents to be secret.

“The godparents, in keeping with their wishes, will remain private.”

However, the Parochial Registers and Records Measure (1978) may prevent the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from being able to do so.

Sunrise’s royal expert Robert Jobson believes Prince Harry will choose his cousin Zara and her rugby player husband Mike Tindall as godparents, while Meghan is likely to choose her stylist best friend Jessica Mulroney.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwell are said to be attending tomorrow’s small private ceremony, along with Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Sadly, Queen Elizabeth will not be able to attend Archie’s christening due to prior commitments.

Baby Archie’s christening gown will reportedly be a replica of the Honiton lace gown Queen Victoria commissioned for the baptism of her first child.

Buckingham Palace also stated that photos from the royal baby’s christening would be released to the public.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex look forward to sharing some images taken on the day by photographer Chris Allerton.”
