It’s the viral ‘Jacketgate’ video that has captivated Australia – and now New Idea can exclusively reveal the secret that drove Channel Nine’s Amber Sherlock to lash out at fellow network reporter Julie Snook.
The embarrassing leaked footage – which shows Nine News Now reporter Amber lose her cool at Julie for wearing the same colour – has caused shockwaves around the world, with even US talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel calling it the ‘clip of the year’.
And while some of her colleagues would disagree, well-placed industry sources tell New Idea that the reporter is well-known at Channel Nine for being ‘rude’ and ‘making producers cry’. The 41-year-old is also reportedly particularly scathing towards younger presenters at the network – such as 29-year-old Julie – who she sees as a threat.
‘Amber is not well-liked in the newsroom,’ a source tells. ‘She is very driven, which can lead to some taking offence.
