She has been rushed to a Melbourne hospital to undergo treatment after a shocking shooting near Launceston occurred at around 9 pm on Tuesday.

According to Tasmanian police, the shooting occurred at a local Woolworths supermarket.

The incident is believed to have involved the victim’s mother and another woman after an argument turned into a physical fight.

One of the women was gruesomely bitten while another was left with cuts to the head.

Afterwards, it is believed the young girl’s mother and uncle drove to a home in Stagg Court with their 11-year old daughter and another unidentified child in the back seat.

A 25-year-old man allegedly shot at the car 50 metres away from the home. The bullet entered via the right-hand rear passenger side and hit the young victim in the right side of her face.

Tasmania Police Detective Inspector John King said the girl was rushed into surgery and doctors have since confirmed that she has been stabilized. King told reporters that it is believed parts of the bullet have travelled into the young girl’s bloodstream.
