After three long weeks of broadcasting, Channel Nine failed to crown Australia’s first Ninja Warrior in last night’s grand finale.
But some eagle-eyed fans picked up on the disappointing result prior to the news being officially announced.
Viewers watched on as Fred Dorrington ran out of time to complete the obstacle course, with the siren sounding as he dropped into the pool two-thirds of the way through.
But as the athlete – who had previously competed on the UK version of the franchise – prepared himself for a post-race interview, a telling graphic appeared in the corner of the screen teasing that he would be the only contestant appearing on the TODAY show the following morning.
Fans were quick to figure out that Dorrington must have taken out the best performance of the night.
Sure enough, at the end of the show it was revealed that out of the eight remaining contestants, the 27-year-old had made it the furthest in the fastest time.
And naturally, many were outraged that the network’s own promo had spoiled the highly-anticipated ending.
