My Kitchen Rules’ main men Pete Evans and Manu Feildel spend days on end side by side, judging Australia’s most popular cooking reality show.
While they say the loveable 43-year-olds say they love shooting the blockbuster series, there is one downside.
The best mates are devoted dads and family men.
Manu is father to 12-year-old son Jonti, and has a two-year-old daughter, Charlee, with his fiancee Clarissa Weerasena.
Pete, who married Nicola Robinson in 2016, has two daughters, Indii and Chilli, from a previous marriage. But they admit it’s hard to say goodbye to their families so often.
‘It’s tough, it’s really tough. But nothing’s easy. You have to deal with your jobs, your life, your kids and families, but we had to learn,’ Manu says candidly.
‘We had to learn how to do it and make sure our families understood the craziness as well.
‘My little one [Charlee] is two years old and every morning she goes: “Bye!” and I don’t see her at night, and the next morning she says bye again.’
‘We’re both expert jugglers,’ Pete agrees.
While they would love to have their families travel with them, it’s not an option because of their children’s routines.
‘Our kids start high school this year, so we can’t rip them out of school, but I’ll probably sneak back and see them [in between filming],’ Pete reveals.
‘I think that’s the best approach,’ Manu agrees. ‘We just got the schedule and it’s going to be a full-on show!’
My Kitchen Rules airs Monday to Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel Seven
