Much-loved contestant John Krasenstein and his wife Chloe exclusively reveal to New Idea that they are expecting a My Kitchen Rules baby!
“I fell pregnant while John was filming MKR,” Chloe says excitedly.
Proud father-to-be John – who entered the competition with mum Lisa – explains: “During filming, Chloe took
a couple months off work and she came over to Sydney so we could keep trying for a baby."
The Perth couple believe if it wasn't for MKR, they may not be preparing for the arrival of their little girl, who is due at the end of July.
"Chloe and I got married almost three yeas ago and we started trying straight away," John, 29, says.
However, the married couple confess that they started to lose hope after the first year of trying for a baby was unsuccessful.
“I think a lot of people have the same problem and I think it's just not talked about a lot," Chloe says.
"You never know if it's going to be you that's going to have a problem until you try.
"I think, as well, [it puts a] strain on your relationship...because it takes a bit of the fun out of things. I think that was something that we weren't prepared for, I guess, because we never thought we'd have those issues.
“After a while, every month, it gets very, very sad.”
After nearly three years of trying, when Lisa and John were accepted onto the 10th season of MKR, Chloe decided to take some time off work and travel with them around the country as they filmed the show.
And it turned out to be the best thing they ever did.
"It was good not ot have the baby as the focus as soon as MKR came up," Chloe says.
"It was kind of like, that's our focus now...we don't have to think about [getting pregnant] all the time.
“It was just really good to take the time off work, think about MKR [and] get wound up in the MKR bubble for a while. It was good and people always say to stop thinking about. Stop worrying about it so much! The babies will happen and I guess that’s what happened with us!”
Now 23 weeks along, Chloe and the bub are doing well.
“It’s going to be a beautiful baby girl. All the reports are healthy,” he gushes. “We just need to choose a name now!
"We had names for a boy lined up. But we’re not having a boy. So we’re just currently trying to work that out. When we see her, [that] might be when we decide, I think.”
Just as over the moon about the baby news is John’s mum Lisa, 55.
“She’s beside herself,” John says.
“I told her the news and she just hung up on me! She was like, 'I better call you back in 20 minutes. I need to process this by myself for a little bit', and I think she had a bit of a cry."
The bubbly mother of three is delighted with the news.
“Chloe’s beautiful. I really love her. They’re building a life together, it’s so special,” Lisa gushes.
As the happy couple prepare for the arrival of their little girl, it’s clear fatherhood is a role that John was made for.
“I think he’s going to be a super involved dad,” Chloe says.
“I don’t know if you know this about John, but he doesn’t like to be alone so that really works for me because now, he can just be with the baby so he doesn’t have to be alone!”
Lucky for John, the pair are planning a big family.
“We want two to three kids,” he says. “Depending on Chloe. Depending on how this one grows! Definitely more than one.”
