Sweet, unassuming truffle farmers, Henry and Anna don’t really seem like the adventure sport types.
But it turns out the brother and sister have had more than their fair share of trips to hospital over the years!
‘This one is just a mess,’
Henry tells New Idea, pointing to his younger sibling Anna.
‘We’ve got a really steep hill on the farm, and being an adrenaline junkie, she was going really fast down the hill – and the bitumen road – and Anna’s face just went head-to-head and had a bit of a battle.’
The 24-year-old nursing student reveals that she fractured her cheekbone and ‘ripped half my face off.’
‘I still have a scar,’ she says.
‘It’s really obvious whenever I run and get a red face.’
‘I’ve broken most limbs. About four fingers, three toes, my foot, jaw, shoulder – I’ve also fractured my skull surfing,’ she continues.
‘I burnt my hand down to the bone once. I fell onto the barbecue and put my hand on the hotplate to get up.’ Henry adds: ‘When you’re growing up on a farm, things just happen.’
As for 26-year-old Henry, he didn’t come out of a country childhood unscathed either!
‘I wrote off a motorbike when I was a kid,’ he remembers.
‘I ran into a fence post and someone found me six or eight hours later. I can’t remember any of it. I’d completely bent this little motorbike round a pole and I was fully concussed.
'I still can't remember!'
