“I was at a party in Surfers Paradise,” he says. “[It’s not like I ran] across the road to try to stop a fight. I tried to calm it down and push two guys apart. One guy tried to hit another guy with a glass and got me.”
The laid-back surfer – who is competing on the show with fiancee Stacey – says despite undergoing multiple surgeries which resulted in him losing his eye, he never wanted to press charges against the man who injured him.
“I didn’t press charges because I wanted to get over it. I didn’t want to go through court and I didn’t want to try and drag money out of the court or people. I just wanted to move on and get on with life."
