A singe mother who asked fellow parents to pay $10 to attend her twins' 5th birthday party has received a flood of negative backlash.
Ruma Ali, the 29-year-old mother claimed she asked parents to help with the cost of her twin boys, Shiyan and Kiyan's celebration, that was being held at an indoor play centre.
According to Ms Ali, the request for funds was made as she wanted all sixty children from her sons' class to attend. But, other parents were not impressed.
On person wrote on Facebook, 'In all my years of hosting and being invited to kids parties, I have never been asked to pay for attending a party. Is this the done thing nowadays?'
Talking to the Leicester Mercury, Ms Ali claimed: 'I didn't want anybody to get left out. I thought I don't want to pick and choose which friends can come.
'I thought, invite the whole class and then nobody's upset. I thought they [the parents] would understand [the charge].'
The centre in which Ms Ali was planning to use for the party charges $20 per-child, and if all children were to come it would have cost the single mother $1200.
Although Ms Ali received a negative reception from some parents, others were supportive of her decision.
'I personally feel if you want to attend and pay then do so, and if u don't that's fine too,' one wrote.
