Meghan Markle’s father has responded to news that Prince Charles will walk his daughter down the aisle.
Kensington Palace confirmed yesterday that Thomas Markle would not be attending the royal wedding.
Mr Markle revealed to website TMZ that he had spoken to Meghan and Harry, and they told him of their plan to ask Harry’s father, Prince Charles, to walk his daughter down the aisle.
Thomas said that he’s “honoured and grateful” at the news.
The 73-year-old revealed that he had heart surgery and is unable to attend the wedding.
Meghan also confirmed news that her father would not be attending the wedding in a statement.
“Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,” she said. “I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”
