PEOPLE reports that Meghan's outfit is actually from her own closet, and was purchased in Toronto just before the duchess moved to London in 2017.
Her decision to wear something she had previously owned could be the result of major backlash from the extravagant cost of her wardrobe of late.
Since the newlywed couple announced their engagement in November 2017, Prince Charles has spent a reported $1 million just on the former Suits star's designer wardrobe.
Unlike thrifty Kate Middleton, the newly minted Duchess of Sussex has 'expensive taste' and it's 'breaking the bank', US publication Life & Style reported.
The US publication noted that in June alone, Meghan stepped out in an $18,000 Givenchy cape dress for her first solo engagement with Queen Elizabeth II, purchased a $4,000 Carolina Herrera off-the-shoulder top and skirt for the Trooping The Colour ceremony, and arrived in a $6,000 Oscar de la Renta printed maxi dress for Princess Diana's niece's wedding.
On top of June's exuberant costs, Meghan and Harry have spent a whopping $54,442 AUD on their wardrobe for their two-day Ireland tour last week.
According to reports, Prince Charles was left 'unhappy' by Meghan's spending.
