Speaking to Best Health before her engagement to the dashing Prince, Meghan, 36, revealed how her approach to ageing was changing as she became older.
‘I make sure that I take care of my skin and body, especially with the work hours I have,’ Meghan told the publication.
‘And I don’t just take care of myself for aesthetic reasons but because how I feel is dictated by what I’m eating, how much rest I’m getting and how much water I’m drinking.
‘If I don’t have time for a long workout, I’ll grab my dog and go for a quick run. Being active is my own moving meditation.’
But just like many of us, Meghan does admit to a weakness for certain foods.
‘French fries – I could eat French fries all day,’ she told the publication.
‘And I love pasta. I love carbs – who doesn’t love a carbohydrate? But of course, when I’m filming, I’m conscious of what I eat.
‘I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends.’
That flexible approach appears to be something the actress has continued during her romance with Harry.
During an interview with the Prince, following the announcement of their engagement, the loved up pair spoke about how Harry proposed during a ‘standard, typical night’ in their cottage, while they cooked a chicken dinner.
‘It was so sweet and natural and very romantic,’ Meghan said, adding ‘he got on one knee.’
‘As a matter of fact, I could barely let you finish proposing. I said, ‘Can I say yes now’?’
While Meghan has been open about enjoying a glass of wine from time to time – she told Best Health, ‘Of course I’m going to have that glass of wine – it’s delicious and I enjoy it’ – she has also spoken of the importance of balance.
Talking about how she stays energized during long work-days to Shape.com, she said coffee isn’t the best pick-me-up.
‘Trying to go for coffee or things like that only end up hurting you at the end, so to get a really good natural source of energy, like a great green juice, something that gets right in to your system is a nice pick me up,’ she said.
Speaking previously to Women's Health, the stunning brunette, revealed that mindful reflection was important to her too.
'Running has always been my form of moving meditation, which I relish because it allows me to get out of my head,' the actress said.
'I also work closely with a personal trainer named Craig McNamee when I am filming Suits in Toronto.'
