There is a multitude of rules and restrictions the ladies of Buckingham Palace must follow, however Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton refuse to wear this one item of clothing of their own volition, and the reason will surprise you.
An expert has recently revealed that the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge refuse to wear items of clothing that are too "flashy" past 6 pm with the Royal ladies reportedly refusing to wear any rubies, sapphires or emeralds when the sun goes down.
Myka Meier revealed to News.com.au that post-6pm, Meghan and Kate will exclusively wear diamonds.

“Other jewels are worn pre-6pm," Ms Meier told the publication.
“Before 6 pm, you’ll see metallics, gemstones, pearls, sapphires."

Ms Meier continued: “At night, you’ll see the diamonds come out, and that’s in order to not come across as flashy in your appearance.”
According to Express.co.uk, while Meghan and Kate insist on adhering to the protocol, the 'only diamonds after dark' rule is imposed on all members of the royal family.

On top of their 6 pm diamonds only rule, the wives of Prince Harry and Prince William also mostly wear affordable jewellery pieces during the daytime, especially while conducting their official royal duties.
Kate has even been known to wear $14 earrings, proving fashion doesn't have to come with an eye-watering price tag.
