The newly minted Duchess of Sussex is living in fear as any moment her family could drop yet another bombshell on the royal family.
According to palace reports, aides at Buckingham Palace have gone into 'crisis mode' and have had several meetings as to how to handle Meghan's father.
Thomas Markle's latest rant saw him reveal Meghan had changed her phone number and was sending him 'mixed messages,' as well as asserting that Princess Diana would have 'loathed' Meghan's behaviour.
Friends have claimed Meghan is 'deeply hurt and embarrassed' that her father mentioned the Princess of Wales, and remains angry over his television interview where he discussed their private conversations.
Phil Dampier, author of Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan in their Own Words, told news.com.au: 'Harry and Meghan have tried ignoring the Markles, but it’s not working. Before things get even more embarrassing for the royal family, they must try to build bridges.
'Ideally, they should go out and see Thomas or invite him over to London. It is incredible that Harry still hasn’t met his father-in-law. At the very least, a senior courtier should go out and placate him first.'
Dampier further tells the publication that the royal family should have intervened before the wedding, befriending Thomas and all the Markle family.
'They should have gone out and befriended Thomas and his children long before the wedding. This is now hurting the monarchy and I wouldn’t be surprised if behind the scenes the Queen is starting to bang a few heads together.'
Thomas Markle's latest scathing rant on the royal family also took a dig and Meghan's groom, Prince Harry.
Markle says, 'I don't care if Harry never speaks to me again, I'll survive.'
'I've just about reached my limit with Meghan and the Royal Family,' he added.
In the scathing interview - which went on for 9 hours – he also blasted Meghan’s 'sense of superiority' and took credit for Meghan’s successes and expressed fears for his health.
'She'd be nothing without me,' he said. 'I made her the Duchess she is today. Everything that Meghan is, I made her. [...] She became the woman that she is today thanks to everything I did for her. And did I get any recognition for it? Any thanks? She doesn't even speak to me now. How cold is that?'
