"I came into this experiment wanting to find someone I could build a life with," Jess said during the episode, before blindsiding Mick with her confession.
"And yeah, I've found that. But it's not with Mick. It's with Dan."
As the participants couldn't believe what they were hearing, they looked around the room in disbelief.
Mick then started quietly sobbing, and walks off.
Music was added to the final footage to increase the drama before the episode was broadcast.
Dan and Jess went on to stay in the experiment for the remaining weeks, and pledged their love and commitment to each other during the final episode.
However, once the cameras stopped rolling, their relationship hit the rocks and they finally broke up after a live TV interview went horribly wrong.
The only couple to have come out of the MAFS experiment in tact were Jules and Cam.
The loved up pair are stronger than ever, and they are set to marry in real life later this year.
