Weeks later in an interview with 9Entertainment, Mel revealed that she was doing "really well" post-breakup, and had been pouring her time and energy into her variety of businesses.
"I came off [MAFS] in a relationship, which was amazing but we did break up very recently," she said.
"I'm doing OK. I'm not having the time of my life, but I believe everything happens for a reason and whatever is meant to be will be."
The television bride went on to add that she wished "nothing but the best" for her ex-partner and that she knew he wished "the best" for her too.
"I'm lucky that I have things like my businesses that bring me so much joy and purpose that I can now focus on, and kind of be a little distracted with."
In late January 2024, Mel shed further light on the breakup during an Instagram Q&A and confirmed that whilst she missed her MAFS husband, that chapter of her life was firmly over.
"I miss the good times and the side of Lay that was sweet and caring. I don't miss the relationship itself though unfortunately, it was not good for either of us," she candidly confessed.
The beauty entrepreneur then revealed she felt "a little weird" even thinking about "moving on from Lay" and dating someone new.
"Will just keep doing me and hope a husband just appears lol," she then joked.

Scenic World Blue Mountains shared on Facebook on March 23rd that the Married At First Sight couple visited the Aussie landmark together.
The post, accompanied by a photo of Melinda and Layton, read:
“Scenic World team member Ruby was excited by the couple’s impromptu visit. ‘I jokingly said to them that they spoiled it for me to see them together all loved up! They were very friendly and said how much they enjoyed visiting Scenic World for a date!’”

Then in June, Melinda joined the Back to Reality podcast, where she revealed the couple were stronger than ever.
Explaining that Layton was leaving for Sydney and relocating to Queensland "within a month" to be closer to Melinda, she shared that Layton was "currently packing up shop."
She also gave fans an insight into what the past few months have looked like for the couple as they maintained a long-distance relationship.
"We've seen each other like every one to two weeks because Sydney's not too far," Melinda shared.
"You know, we've had a few different events and we've had a few different like friend things as well that we've both gone to and then I'm opening up a new Salon at the moment so Layton has been helping me a lot with that."
"He's got a lot of friends and family in Brisbane, so it actually worked out pretty well."
Speaking candidly about the challenges they had faced as a couple in a July interview Punkee, Layton admitted that the long-distance nature of their relationship had been tough, especially when it came to overcoming arguments.
"It's much easier to embrace, get over it quickly when you're there together. Navigating [long distance], I think, [has] probably been our biggest challenge," he said.
According to Layton, when he does move north, he won't actually be moving in with Melinda, instead taking "baby steps" choosing to reside three hours south.
In the same interview, Layton also made the bombshell revelation that he still hadn't said the all too important 'l-word', instead saying that he had shown "love" for his partner in "different ways."
"Who said 'I love you first', and only? That would be moi, because I've never heard it from Layton," Melinda said.
"He can't say I love you. He hasn't and he just can't do it."
Despite all this, it seems like the lovebirds are stronger than ever!
Speaking with TV Week at the 2023 Logie Awards, Layton said his favourite part about his MAFS experience was meeting Mel: "[she's] my number one," Layton said with a smile on his face whilst Mel joked "he has to say that."
For Mel, she said the connection she had formed with Layton during the experiment was her favourite.
"It was our relationship. It really was," Mel told our sister publication with Layton chiming in: "the ups and the downs."
“It’s so important to be authentic... the mask will come off. You've just got to be 100 percent honest," Layton told Yahoo Lifestyle in August when reflecting upon why their relationship had made it out of the experiment.
“That’s why a lot of relationships in there crashed as well,” Melinda added.
“In the beginning, we were kind of comparing ourselves going, ‘How is everyone so loved instantly?’. We were struggling and we were kind of comparing ourselves to that and then when we thought that they were like a match made in heaven forever, they all came crashing down.”
That same month the lovebirds celebrating the 12-month anniversary of "Melton", Layton gifted Mel an eternity ring to prove his love for her.
"Who would have thought! What an absolutely crazy ride it's been and you guys have been there with us, through it all," they shared on their Instagram accounts.
Sadly, just six weeks later the duo called it quits on their relationship.
