In a statement to 9Honey Celebrity, the network's Executive Producer John Walsh acknowledged that some of the brides and grooms had engaged in part-time modelling, promotional and TV commercial work prior to the show but vehemently denied any of the participants were enlisted as paid performers.
Mr Walsh declared the suggestion "categorically untrue" and blasted allegations for doing "a great disservice to the participants...who have all genuinely put themselves out there for the sake of this social experiment".
The TV boss added the MAFS stars had each signed up in a bid to find a "life partner" and pointed out they each pay a personal price for putting themselves in the glare of the spotlight.
His statements were echoed by MAFSÂ Executive Producer Tara McWilliams who branded the accusations "ridiculous".
On-screen relationship expert Mel Schilling recently told Nova's Chrissy, Sam and Brownie she could "put my hand on my heart and say there are no actors" before conceding there may be people who have had experience acting in the past, including herself.
Mike Gunner, a 44-year-old Queensland electrician paired with radio announcer Heidi Latcham on this year's season, previously admitted to working as an international runway model and playing small parts in short films.
Others accused of formal theatrical training include former stripper Dino Hira, self-confessed (now former) virgin Matthew Bennett and talent agent Melissa Lucarelli who has been photographed in a Summer Bay police uniform on the set of Home and Away.
Channel 9's strong denials come as a number of the cast have become embroiled in very public personal difficulties.
Last month MAFS original villain Ines Basic faced a Brisbane court on mid-range drink driving charges, while shocking photos also emerged highlighting the Bosnian-born beauty's 12kg weight loss since filming wrapped in December.
Ines' one-time fling and cast mate Sam Ball found himself in a similarly sticky situation in recent weeks when it was revealed he had pressed stalking and harassment charges on his ex-girlfriend Akila Ahmunett.
