It’s the social experiment that has long divided fans and critics alike, with two complete strangers ‘marrying’ during a commitment ceremony within moments of meeting each other.
And with the release of the first look at the upcoming third season of Channel Nine’s Married At First Sight, it appears the next outing promises to be just as controversial as ever before.
This time around, the series declares there will be ‘more weddings, more drama’ and a shock ‘world first’ – which is reportedly the first gay couple.
While the participants and their ‘spouses’ are yet to be identified, it’s clear there are more than a few who are second-guessing their decision to go through with the wedding.
One nervous bride-to-be can be seen in tears on her way to her wedding ceremony as she questions: ‘Am I skinny enough? Am I pretty enough? Oh dear God, I’m so worried that he might not be attracted to me.’
Meanwhile, one groom opens up about his own fears – of being rejected due to his extensive, colourful tattoo collection, which goes up his neck, admitting he doesn’t want his bride to think he’s a ‘tattooed thug’.
However, it appears his biggest fear will be realised, with the voice of who we can only presume is his betrothed heard saying: ‘I didn’t expect my husband to be covered in tatts.’ Ouch!
No air date has been given for season three at this stage.
