Aussie entertainment legend, Maria Venuti is in an induced coma following a terrifying stalker ordeal at her Sydney home.
The hugely popular singer and actress was home alone on Friday morning when she was disturbed by a man who had allegedly started harassing her weeks ago.
The 75-year-old entertainer managed to sound an alarm, alerting police, before collapsing in her home.
Venuti’s close friend and Australian Ladies Variety Association President Susie Smither broke the news on the organisation’s Facebook page – of which Maria is a patron.
‘This morning Maria has suffered a stroke and is in hospital with Bianca by her side,” Susie wrote.
‘Bianca has asked that I send out this message and she asks us all for our prayers, mantras and good vibes for Maria over the next few days.
‘The doctors need 24 hours to ascertain what has happened and to come to decisions on what needs to be done.
‘This is all the information that is available at this time’.
Police apparently arrived on the scene to discover a 38-year-old man still on Maria’s property – With witnesses saying the intruder was Tasered before being taken to The Royal North Shore Hospital – where Maria is also staying.
The news will come as a shock to fans as just earlier this week, Maria had appeared in fine form at Melbourne Cup.
