Andrew Jury, 26, who is currently starring on the popular show, sent messages to Maria Mo via the dating app asking her to satisfy his 'Asian fetish'.
But after Ms Mo rebuffed the builder's advances he sent a series of derogatory replies, labelling her a 'mutant'.
The exchange occurred in early November 2015, with Mr Jury responding 'hope your happy on your high horse. It's people like you that are ruining the world with there prudish uptight ways. Plus your ugly and will never do better than me.'
Continuing his insulting messages, he added: 'Also your bowl cut is ugly. Shave your head you mutant.'
Ms Mo tried to deflect at the time saying 'thanks for giving me the best lol since ages', before Mr Jury sent another message asking if the pair should then go on a date.
Taking to Facebook Monday, Ms Mo said she had not forgotten the interaction and recognised Andrew from his appearance onscreen.
'I was half-paying attention when one of the contestants caught my eye, because he looked suspiciously like the p***k who sent me abusive, racist and misogynist messages on Tinder in 2015,' she wrote.
'(His) name and face had stuck with me because of the particularly nasty nature of his messages.'
Speaking with The Spinoff, Ms Mo claimed the messages had impacted her and that people should be more aware of their actions online.
Meanwhile, Mr Jury released a statement claiming he was 'embarrassed and ashamed' over what he wrote.
'I would take it back if I could, but as I deleted my all dating apps ages ago I can't apologise to the individual in person.
'I hope everyone can forgive and forget as I'm a new man these days.'
Mr Jury is a participant on the current series of Married At First Sight NZ, which sees strangers 'tie the knot' with a compatible partner.
He 'wed' fellow single Vicky during the season and is described on the show's official website as 'outgoing, charming and spontaneous'.
