Chatting to New Idea, the MAFS participant reveals she had to have a skin cancer removed recently, and is thankful doctors noticed it in time.
'They cut out a massive chuck of my nose and I have had a bit of filler injected to pump it back out,' she says.
While she is careful in the sun now, as a child she thought she had protection given her heritage.
'My background is aboriginal, but would you know it? No!' Lauren explains.
'My mum's side of the family are aboriginal and she and my sister are darker skinned than me. I think growing up and being the fair kid I wanted to look like my sister so I would cover myself in oil and lay out in the sun with her. And I remember my nose always getting burnt.'
Luckily she has learned from her childhood naivety and makes sure she slip, slop, slaps now.
'I look like the biggest dork when I go to the beach now, covering up,' she laughs.
And while cosmetic injectables helped Lauren hide the scar on her face, she isn’t interested in having anything else done.
'I feel like if you've had an injury that's changed the way you look, I'm all for plastic surgery but I would like to look like myself still.
'I don't like when people try to change the way they look when there's nothing wrong with them.'
