As for all the finer details, Luke says he and Raychel are on the same page. “There are going to be oysters, because I’m an oyster fanatic and so is Raychel,” he laughs.
“And, it’s going to be a very laid-back wedding … we want to be outside with flowers and there’s lots of nieces and nephews, so it’s going to be a big outdoor wedding.”
Before the couple say “I do”, Luke, who has been splitting his time between the US and Oz, reveals that Raychel is set to move Down Under with him. “She will be moving out here next year,” he says.
“I’ve been going back and forth for a few years with only
a few months in between, so we definitely know what it’s like to live together, so there aren’t going to be any surprises – I know she is a clean freak and I am a clean freak.”
Of course, the move won’t be easy for Raychel, who is very close to her family. “It’s going to be hard,” Luke admits. “It’s such a big move so we are going to have a flight on standby anytime she needs in case she does feel homesick. Thank God there’s Facetime so we can call her nieces and nephews and sisters and stuff.”
In the meantime, Luke is excited about his new role as host of The Proposal.
Based on the American show of the same name, the series features a meeting and marriage proposal between two strangers – all in one episode!
Eligible singles will compete in four rounds to win the heart of a mystery suitor or suitress. The final round will see someone get down on one knee and pop the question.
“When I first got told the concept I was like, ‘I don’t know whether I believe this’, but it was a day into filming it and I was like, ‘this is great, it’s working’,” he says.
“We aren’t guaranteeing anything, but we are putting people in front of each other and seeing if a connection is made.”
And so many connections were made that Luke is hoping the only wedding he is going to next year, isn’t just his own.
“I want to know if I’m getting invited to some weddings because technically, I was the Cupid and I think it would only be fair if I go these weddings,” he laughs, before adding that he doesn’t plan to officiate any of them.
“I officiated the meeting, so now I can sit back and enjoy some good wedding food and enjoy a dance.”
