All About Lleyton
Who Is Lleyton Hewitt?
The tennis superstar was born on February 24, 1981, in Adelaide, South Australia. He showed a passion for sports at a very young age – he started playing Australian Football as a young boy but made the switch to tennis in 1994 when he was just 13. Four years later, the tennis prodigy turned pro and won the 1998 Next Generation Adelaide International – defeating tennis greats like Jason Stoltenberg and Andre Agassi. Lleyton was only 17 at that time, making him one of the youngest people to ever win an ATP title.
It looks like athleticism runs in the family! Lleyton's father was a former Football player, while his mom was a physical education teacher. It's no wonder why Lleyton and his sister, Jaslyn, both entered the world of sports at a very young age! The siblings were both active in the tennis scene and have won several titles.
What Are His Achievements?
Hewitt has left a hell of a mark on the tennis world during his 20-year-long career. He won in 30 different events including ATP Masters 1000, ATP 500 series, and the Davis Cup. He also has three Grand Slam titles under his belt and developed notable rivalries against players like Andy Roddick and Roger Federer.
He announced his retirement in 2016 after his 20th appearance in the Australian Open. Because of his contributions and achievements in the tennis world, he was actually made a Member Of The Order Of Australia.
But First, His Wife
Bec Cartwright is Lleyton’s first and only wife. She became a household name in Australia from her role as Hayley in Home And Away. She is also a super talented singer and has actually released her very own album which ranked 21 on the Australian charts.
Bec met Lleyton during a charity match in 1999 but didn't start dating until 2005. The two got married after only six weeks of dating, and in the same year, they announced that they're expecting their first child. Talk about a whirlwind romance.
How Many Kids Do They Have?
The Australian power couple has three children; their names are; Mia, Cruz, and Ava.
She's the spitting image of her mother, and it seems like she's following in her footsteps as well. The 13-year-old Mia has been showing interest in entering the world of modelling and has travelled to France to attend the Paris Fashion Week. If you're following Bec on social media, then you can’t have missed the headshots that she's been posting of Mia.
Who knows? Maybe she might end up on Home And Away, just like her mother!
The apple definitely doesn't fall far from the tree! Lleyton and Bec's second child, Cruz, takes a lot from his dad. Cruz and Lleyton look so much alike, they're practically twins! And not only that, Cruz, like his father, is also very passionate about tennis.
The kid was practically raised on the tennis court – Lleyton brought Cruz with him in a lot of his matches, and by the age of two, he was already perfecting his racket grip.
Cruz is now 10 years old, and it seems like his passion for the sport has only grown since. He competed in his first tournament and won! Lleyton believes that Cruz will make his Australian Open debut once he turns 14. Watch out people, there’s a new Aussie tennis star in the making!
Arguably the most popular of all the Hewitt siblings, Ava Sydney Hewitt is destined for great things. The budding gymnast was exposed to the limelight at the incredibly young age of eight, appearing in different publications and commercials. She even has her own showbiz Instagram account with over 4,000 followers. She's currently training to become a dancer, and who knows? With so much athletic talent in her genes, she might just be the next dance superstar!
Lleyton Hewitt and his kids are one of Australia’s most charming families. They appear to have a genuine love for each other, and it’s not just for the cameras! Maybe it’s time to quit following the Kardashian family drama and take a look at the Hewitts instead.
