When terrifying photos of an Angelina Jolie look-alike circulated last year, it seemed to be a case of plastic surgery gone very wrong.
Claiming the image was the result of 50 surgeries, news outlets said 19-year-old Sahar Tabar from Iran did it to look like her Hollywood idol. Labelling her a ‘surgery addict’, photos of her looking gaunt with an alarmingly pointy nose circulated the globe.
Many were distraught at the thought of a teenager going to such extremes. Sahar was even dubbed the ‘zombie Angelina’. Thankfully it turned out that Sahar had been pulling our legs. While she did admit to having a nose job and liposuction, her frightening look was thanks to clever make-up and photo editing.
She told Russian news outlet Sputnik that she had doctored the extreme photos as a way to ‘amuse’ herself. ‘Every time I publish a photo, I paint my face in an increasingly funny way. It is a way of expressing yourself, a kind of art. My fans know,’ she said.
