– Have A Flutter

‘This season’s eye make-up is all about understatement,’ Napoleon says. ‘Keep it clean and simple with nude shadow and black liner, a few coats of mascara and amp up the glam-factor with false lashes.’

– Lip Silk

Cheering and drinking all day gives lips a workout, so forget high-maintenance bold lip colours. ‘Neutrals shades are perfect for the races,’ Napoleon says. ‘Apply a creamy lipstick and line the lips last – it helps the colour last and creates a crisp finish.’

– Bet On Base

‘Skin is in,’ Napoleon says. ‘The minimal base trend is perfect for Spring Carnival – think a dewy and fresh complexion.’ For radiantly glowing skin on race day, apply a hydrating serum onto cleansed skin to boost plumpness and improve texture.

– Go The Distance

The races are an all-day affair – so Napoleon’s advice for long-wearing make-up is to choose your formula wisely. ‘A mattifying primer and foundation works well if your base tends to wear off quickly or become shiny. If your skin looks dry and dehydrated, try a luminous primer and foundation.’

– Winning Flush

Add colour to your cheeks. ‘Pink and peach matte blushes are a must for Spring Carnival,’ Napoleon says. ‘Try highlighting to create naturally defined features.’ But avoid ‘chocolate bar-looking’ contouring. ‘Nothing’s more unflattering than caked-on make-up in natural sunlight.’
