Once you’ve bought and paid for your iPhone – or found the right contract – the expenses don’t stop there.
On top of your data and calls, there’s also the cost of charging your phone that no one takes into account.
Although the battery life seems to be getting better, your phone will still need charging at least once a day. And – like they say – every cent counts.
So how much does charging your phone cost?
Currently, in Australia, a kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity will cost you around about 23 cents, depending on who your supplier is.
When purchasing an iPhone 6S, the phone will come with a 5W charger, and it takes around 1.7 hours to completely charge – which comes to about 8.5W of electricity.
So, that’s about $0.20 cents per charge: totaling around $73 per year on top of what you already pay.
