The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle is pregnant with her first baby and while the 37-year-old is undoubtedly in great nick, she’s likely exhausted.
After all, the former Hollywood actress is attending royal engagements 24-7, adapting to life as a wife and growing a human being all at the same time. Frankly, any one of those activities would be enough to leave you needing a life down.
Unfortunately though, royal wives don’t get a lot of those. Nor do they get to slip into their favourite track pants and eat corn chips on the couch.
No – royal wives are expected to be out doing royal things and looking, well, royal while they’re at it. Meghan is achieving that and then some, appearing graceful, stylish and damn it – fresh even.
And we’ve just worked out how she’s doing it too. Meghan is employing a clever eye makeup trick to make her eyes look fresh – even if she’s feeling anything but.
Traditionally Meghan opts for rich, dark chocolate brown shades of eyeshadow and more importantly, eyeliner but in recent weeks she has instead worn a creamy nude eyeliner along the waterline of her lower lashes.
This is a tried-and-tested makeup ‘cheat’ that professional makeup artists have used for aeons as it makes the whites of eyes appear more fresh and bright. Done right, it can even make eyes appear larger, says celebrity makeup artist Helen Dowsley.
Fancy trying it yourself? We recommend you do as it’s a genuinely easy look to pull off. Firstly, find an eyeliner that’s designed to be used in this area and so won’t irritate or upset the eyes.
Then, simply draw along the waterline of the lower lash taking care not to pull or pinch. Once the liner is applied, blink several times. Check again. If you need another coat apply and then you’re good to go and more importantly, looking fresh as a daisy.
