She’s a newly minted royal bride, but Meghan Markle is not exactly living the high life say friends.
In fact, members of the Duchess of Sussex’s inner circle say that Meghan is exceptionally down to earth and hands on in regards to running her own life.
In an interview with People, an unnamed confidante of Meghan’s revealed that the former Hollywood actress not only cooks a meal every evening but does her own hair and makeup for the vast majority of the time.
“There’s a false assumption that she lives in some gilded palace with staff and ladies-in-waiting and all these royal perks,” the unnamed source was quoted as saying.
“It’s simply not true.”
The same person revealed that Meghan and Prince Harry‘s Kensington Palace home of Nottingham Cottage, is not glamorous but “small” and “cosy” – and doesn’t come with the staff outsiders may expect from a royal household.
“Meg cooks for herself and Harry every single day— there’s no chef or butler.”
The source also confirmed that Meghan does her own hair and makeup for the most part too.
Yes – she had a makeup artist for her wedding. But otherwise, those looks are all her own. Apparently Meghan even paints her own nails!
“She’s very self-service,” said the friend.
It’s likely Meghan learned a few tricks of the trade when still starring in the hit series Suits, in which she starred as would-be lawyer Rachel Zane.
She’s worked with many makeup artists during her time as an actress and has also shown herself to be a dab hand at applying her own makeup, even sharing tips and tricks to Instagram back when she still had an account. Sadly, royal duties meant the end of any social media so for now we’ll just have to assume her unidentified confidante is telling the truth and Meghan is whipping up her gorgeous looks all by herself.
Whoever is doing her hair and makeup (and we believe it is Meghan) they’re doing an amazing job.
The mama-to-be is looking stunning and we imagine she’ll only continue to improve when her little one arrives on the scene.
