While you don’t want your face to tan during summer you do want it to match the rest of your body and this is where bronzer can be your best friend. Master it and adding bronzer to your skin will give you a youthful look all year round.
The right shade is key though as it can easily look muddy or dirty if it’s not the correct one.
As a general rule, the right shade is only one shade darker than your natural skin tone.
Celebrity makeup artist Lisa Eldridge (who has worked with Sandra Bullock, Cindy Crawford, Vanessa Redgrave, lisaeldridge.com ) says the key to making bronzer look natural is to apply a bit of powder to your face before you start with bronzer.
“Use a tiny bit of powder first – very lightly – which will stop your powder bronzer sticking to skin and going patchy.”
Lisa recommends a pressed powder bronzer over a liquid style as it’s easier to apply if you are not good at blending and a novice to the world of bronzers.
“When it comes to the texture of a bronzer I prefer matt or low level shimmer. I don’t like really glittery bronzers. I think they look great at night or on a summer’s evening but during the day a glittery bronzer can look a bit silly really.”
